HOBOKEN, NJ — A restaurant on Hoboken's Washington Street closed on Sunday, leaving a letter for customers.

They said they decided not to re-sign their lease, but will remain in their other location on the west side of town.

Shaka Kitchen, which served Hawaiian inspired poke bowls, tacos, and smoothies, wrote, "After nine beautiful years on Washington Street we have made the decision to not re-sign our Washington lease and consolidate our stores as we approach two 10-year lease renewals."

They said the location spans 2,400 square feet and they're using half of it, which doesn't make sense in an era of increasing delivery.

They cited a survey saying use of delivery services has increased 450 percent in urban areas.
