Hoboken Prepares for Blizzard: Updates On Street Cleaning, Forecast, Cabin Fever Event

HOBOKEN, NJ — While Hoboken residents awoke to rain on Sunday morning, forecasters say a historic storm is still on the way. Rain is expected to change to snow after 1 p.m., the National Weather Service says.

Hoboken is under a blizzard warning from 1 p.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday, along with all 21 New Jersey counties.
The National Weather Service has increased its snowfall estimates for Hudson County, with as much as 22 inches of snow predicted.

The NWS expects 1-2 inches of snow during the day, 9-13 at night, and 3-7 inches on Monday. Winds could gust as high as 44 MPH on Sunday night.
Hoboken Street Cleaning, Parking, And Closures
The city of Hoboken said that people should move their cars from emergency routes.
The city is offering a rate of $6 per night at its Midtown Garage at 371 Fourth St., but spots are limited. Garage B is full.
Street cleaning is suspended for Monday and Tuesday.
The Hoboken public library has closed for Sunday and Monday.

Governor's Comments And NJ Transit
"Travel could be very difficult," the NWS noted. "Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. The combination of gusty winds and heavy wet snow could bring down tree branches."
Gov. Mikie Sherrill said that the most snow will fall Sunday night into Monday morning, and that people should work from home if they can.
NJ Transit CEO Kris Kolluri said his agency will do its best to keep buses and trains running Sunday and Monday, depending on conditions. "If you can work from home on Monday, you should, and if we're able to provide the service safely, we will," he said.
