HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken City Council has scheduled a special meeting this Wednesday solely to consider voting on an amended redevelopment plan for Hoboken Yard, the area stretching from the Erie Lackawanna Train Terminal and along the city's southern border with Jersey City.

The past proposal was to include a 300-foot office building, a 330-foot-story residential building, and flood wall.

If the council votes to introduce the revised plan (linked HERE), it will go to the Planning Board for a review, then back to the council for a final vote. The plan has undergone debate and discussions for more than five years.

The city announced, "The Hoboken Yard Redevelopment Plan, which was originally adopted by the Hoboken City Council in 2014, provided a plan vision and framework for transit-oriented development in the area adjacent to the New Jersey Transit Rail Yard. The proposed amendment recognizes the proposed location of the Rebuild by Design flood protection structure, which will lie within the redevelopment area. The proposed amendment, which provides for less overall development as compared to the 2014 plan, can be found in draft format by clicking here."

After that, the council holds its next regular meeting on Feb. 5. Among other things, they may discuss a proposed street parking rate increase at that regular meeting.
