St. Francis puts faith on display with Prayer Ribbons for Mary

The Little Church with the Big Heart is offering blue ribbons for prayers and intentions to celebrate May as the Month of the Queen Mother

HOBOKEN, NJ – Throughout the month of May, as the Roman Catholic church celebrates the Month of Mary to recognize the Blessed Mother, St. Francis Church, here, is placing an outward expression of faith and devotion to the Holy Mother of Jesus with Prayer Ribbons for Mary.

After the May Crowning this weekend (Sunday, May 17) in which the parish’s First Holy Communicants adorn a statue of Mary with a wreath of flowers, St. Francis is making blue prayer ribbons available to all who would like to write a prayer or intention and hang it on ornamental, wrought iron fence that surrounds the small church on the corner of 3rd Street and Jefferson. The prayers are being included in the church’s weekly intentions.

“The month of May is a tribute to the Blessed Mother and we thought it would be a fitting, public expression of our faith and prayers for all of those in and outside our community to offer the Prayer Ribbons as we pray to Mary,” said Father Christopher Panlilio. “We hope to see the entire fence flowing in blue ribbons by the end of the month and will say prayers for all of those intentions written on the ribbons.”
