Supermoon Rises Over Statue Of Liberty, And It'll Be Back Soon

A Hoboken man took these photos of Wednesday night's "strawberry moon" lighting the way to liberty. You can catch it again in August.

HOBOKEN, NJ — On Monday and Wednesday, the full moon appeared larger than it will for most of the year. This "strawberry moon" — so named because strawberries ripen this time of year — was expected to be seen in New Jersey this past Monday and Wednesday.

But if you missed the chance to see it, you may be able to catch it again on Aug. 11, weather permitting, according to Patch and the Old Farmer's Almanac.

Hoboken resident John Branciforte snapped these shots from Liberty State Park in Jersey City on Wednesday night, he said.
