Suspicious Suitcase Cleared And Light Rail Resumes: Hoboken Police

"The suitcase wasn't dangerous and the scene will be clearing up shortly," said the Hoboken police about a package near an Amazon warehouse.

HOBOKEN, NJ — After the Hoboken Police Department said they were investigating a "suspicious package" that caused the light rail to shut down Monday evening, they said an hour later that the matter was cleared up.

"The Hoboken Police Department is investigating a suspicious package call for service in the area of 940 Monroe St. ," said the city in an alert at 5:32 p.m. Monday. "Please avoid this area while officers continue the investigation. As more information becomes available an update will be provided."

The address is two blocks from the 9th Street Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Station. Hudson County View noted that the address is an Amazon warehouse.

At 6:23 p.m., the city said in an alert, "Update from Hoboken Police Department: the suitcase wasn’t dangerous and the scene will be clearing up shortly; Hudson Light Rail to resume service. Thank you to residents for their understanding."
