Teen Charged In Sex Assault Of Woman In Jersey City Store

A Jersey City man, 18, has been charged with the sexual assault and robbery of a woman, 63, in a Jersey City store last week.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Days after a woman told police she was robbed and sexually assaulted inside a Jersey City store, a man has been captured and charged, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said Saturday.

Elijah Lloyd, 18, was arrested on Friday by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

Lloyd has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping, robbery, terroristic threats, and theft.

Prosecutors said that last Wednesday, May 10, at approximately 8:24 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call reporting a sexual assault. The 63-year-old victim reported an unknown male entered a business on West Side Avenue – south of Communipaw Avenue – where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.

Officials declined to reveal the exact address in order to protect the victim.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the
Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest, and multiple units of the Hudson
County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance in the investigation.

Suarez specifically commended Officers Isaac Holmes and Michael DeBari of the Citywide Burglary
Unit "for swiftly identifying the defendant during the investigation."

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office SVU and the Jersey City Police Department continue to
