Two Hoboken High School Football Players Sign National Letters

Hoboken Redwings Daniel Clifford and Josh Mercado signed the National Letters of Intent during a ceremony at Hoboken High School.

Two Hoboken High School football players have signed National Letters of Intent to play for Wagner College in New York.

Lineman Daniel Clifford and running back Josh Mercado, who are best friends, signed the letters Wednesday, during a ceremony at the high school, according to the Jersey Journal.

The two received more than $500,000 in scholarships and aid from the college, according to the high school’s website.

“We knew that we wanted to be together, we’ve been playing since (we were) six years old. We went to high school together, and now we’re going off to college together,” Mercado told the Jersey Journal.

The Hoboken Redwings were state champions in 2012 and 2013.
