Unity Luncheon Celebrates Hoboken's African American Community
African American Culture Club hosts event.
The HJSHS African American Culture Club's Unity Luncheon is a festival meant to promote friendship and unity between diverse cultures and nationalities represented at HJSHS. The Luncheon is also a culminating event that celebrates and honors the rich history of the Hoboken African American community. The following individuals received AACC's first annual legacy award for their years of service and commitment to the community of Hoboken:

Elizabeth Falco (First African American Principal)
Eugene Drayton (Former Board Trustee & President of NAACP)
Elizabeth Evans-Pittman (Teacher & Former Adviser of AACC)
Patricia Williams (Teacher & Co-founder of AACC)
Vincent Johnson (Coach)

The attendees were not only treated to soulful musical tributes performed by students Jeane Cummings and Willie Allen, but they also dined sumptuously on Southern Style Cuisine:
Main Entrée: Salmon Croquettes, Baked Chicken, Fried Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Baked Ham, Pulled Pork, Candied Yams, Collard Greens, String Beans, Baked Macaroni & Cheese, Potato Salad, Rice & Beans, Dirty Rice, Stuffing, Tossed Salad, Mini Cheese Biscuits and dinner rolls. Desserts: Coconut Cake, Sweet Potato Pie, Banana Pudding, and an assortment of other cakes
