Flooding Closes Several Hudson County Roads Sunday Night
Two lanes closed on Routes 1 & 9 in Kearny and several other Hudson County roads experienced flooding from the weekend's storm.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — With more than 2 inches of rain falling since Friday night in Hudson County, officials have reported flooding in low-lying areas.
As of 9:30 p.m. Sunday night, two lanes of 1 &9 Truck Route northbound in Kearny closed due to flooding, NJ511 reported.
Residents of Hudson County towns (and political candidates) Tweeted flooding photos Sunday night. There was also a testy exchange of words about flooding between Hoboken 1st Ward Councilman Michael DeFusco and candidate Paul Presinzano, who will face him in November.

The flood watch ran from noon Sunday until midnight. However, a flood advisory was issued later, through 12:30 a.m. May 1. Get updates here.

Officials advise drivers not to try to get through flooded waters. However, the new automatic flood gates in Hoboken were not used. The city of Hoboken Tweeted Saturday:
OEM has deployed barricades at flood prone intersections today as the new flood warning system is not yet fully installed and operational. Please do NOT drive around them. Avoid driving (and walking) through flood waters.
