Vicki Jewelers Consolidates Locations, Closes Original
The jeweler, which has been in business for over 25 years, is closing its Washington Street location.
, which has been in business in Hoboken for over 25 years, is closing its midtown location at 722 Washington Street and will consolidate its operations in its newer location at 1300 Grand Street, which opened in 2010.
Co-owner Lou Aligo, whose wife Vicki is the namesake behind the business, said that they were asked to close the midtown location when the landlord of the building said he needed the space to accommodate a new tenant.
Aligo said business has been split between the midtown and uptown locations, including selling merchandise such as diamond and silver chains and rings, and services such as watch repair. Now everything will be consolidated uptown.

Aligo said the midtown location has always had more foot traffic than the one uptown, but that many of his wife's clients are longtime regular customers.
“Wherever Vicki is, she's the magnet,” he said.

The midtown location will close for good on January 31.
