It's baby goose season, but a family of geese found themselves far from the river, 'til Hoboken residents walked them back. See videos below

HOBOKEN, NJ — When Canada geese aren't busy forcing planes to land in the Hudson River, they're making babies near that same river. And each spring, Hoboken residents can often catch new goslings testing the water.

Hoboken resident Rob Harari encountered a group of goslings off the beaten path this week, away from the river and close to Garden Street. He thought the two parents and the baby goslings looked lost.

So he and some non-feathered friends from the neighborhood sprang into action to walk the geese back to the water.

The geese made quite a sight, walking in a straight line for five or so blocks with their parents. Harari took both videos below.

"As I was approaching our house...west of Garden, I came up one a family of geese walking west, away from the river," he said. "I shepherded them back towards the Hudson. I picked up some humans along the way who also helped."

He said, "The poppa seemed determined but you could see the babies were already getting tired and sitting down. They were also scarfing scraps off the sidewalk, so probably hungry. As we approached the river, the parents got visibly 'excited' and picked up pace to get to the water."

Harari met two neighbors on bicycles, Matt Lawler and Mark Stehli, who also helped, and "Folks all along the trail were pulling out their phones," he said.

He added, "Oh how wonderful Hoboken can still be."
