Wake Thursday For Westfield Planner, Former Hoboken Resident
Services will be held starting Thursday for Westfield resident Jeff Janota, who helped lead Master Plan efforts in that town.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A wake has been planned for Thursday for Westfield resident and former Hoboken resident Jeff Janota, who passed away unexpectedly Tuesday.
Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle spoke of Janota's efforts in his hometown during Tuesday night's Town Council meeting. "I’m sorry to end my remarks tonight on a very somber note," she said, "by reporting that Jeff Janota, who led our Master Plan Reexamination efforts on behalf of his firm H2M, passed away this morning after unexpected complications from recent surgery. You may recall Jeff from his many presentations at council and Planning Board meetings."
Janota's obituary says he met his wife Toni on a blind date and lived with her for several years in Hoboken. He had been raising two children in Westfield.

"Jeff had a strong connection with nature and the outdoors, spending time camping, kayaking and going on nature walks," the obit says. "But more than anything, Jeff loved just being with his family. From board games and Wiffle ball to watching Marist basketball games with Cooper and making homemade pasta with Andie — family was his focus."
