Watch For Fireworks: Hoboken Italian Festival Has Begun. Here's The Schedule.
The traditional feast of Madonna dei Martieri starts Thursday in Hoboken with fireworks on the weekend. Get the music lineup and hours.
HOBOKEN, NJ — The annual Hoboken Italian Festival, otherwise known as the feast of the Madonna dei Martieri, begins Thursday night.
The festival kicks off with two live bands Thursday: the Joe Baracata Band at 5 p.m. and The Beverlees at 8 p.m.
The festival also includes rides, games, food, and tables for community organizations.

There's a music lineup all day Saturday with special events, including an Elton John/Billy Joel tribute at noon.
Fireworks start around 9 p.m. Saturday on Pier A.

The festival concludes Sunday.

As the website notes, "The tradition of the Madonna Dei Martiri goes back to 1399. Ladislao di Durazzo, King of Napoli, ordered the Street festival & Religious celebration be combined to celebrate the 'Miracle' and blessings of the Madonna."
Street Closures
The city of Hoboken sent a notice about street closures this week, saying:
The 2023 Hoboken Italian Festival will take place on Sinatra Drive from Thursday, Sept. 7, through Sunday, Sept. 10.
Sinatra Drive will be closed between Newark and Fourth Streets 24-7.
Please be advised, on Saturday there will be a procession through the streets of Hoboken, which will cause intermittent road closures starting at 12 p.m.
At 9 p.m. on Saturday there will be a firework display along the Hudson River at Pier A Park.
Temporary No Parking signs have been posted and Hoboken Police Officers will assist with detours during festival hours.
There will be access to local parking garages.
