Broken Water Main On West Side of Hoboken Is Fixed Tuesday Night

Crews spent more than 12 hours Tuesday on the scene of a water main break that caused lower water pressure on the west side of Hoboken.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Veolia Water announced at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday that it had fixed a water main on the west side of Hoboken. It had broken before 7 a.m.

"Crews have isolated a broken water main near 7th & Jackson St. (Between Monroe Center & 770 House)," police wrote Tuesday morning. "@HobokenOEM remains on scene. Those in area may experience low water pressure as repairs continue."

Veolia water Tweeted around 7:30, "Crews are responding to a leak on a 10-inch main in the courtyard by 770 Jackson." Follow them here.

At 8:47 p.m., Veolia announced: "Main has been replaced and service has been restored.Residents are advised to flush cold water taps until pressure stabilizes, then resume normal use. Thank you for your patience as our crews worked all day on this emergency repair."

Jersey City Break On Monday (Corrected)

There was also a break in Jersey City at Seventh and Coles streets, in the Hamilton Park area, the day before.

Veolia was also at Third and Jefferson streets in Hoboken replacing a section of water infrastructure that day, but it was planned work, the company noted.
