“I just worked really hard and participated in class like any student should,” she says.
Ashley says her favorite subject in school is math, particularly Algebra. “It's easy for me,” she says.
She hopes to attend college after she graduates next year at either Montclair State University or Rutgers, though while she acknowledges that Rutgers has advantages for being very big, she also appreciates Montclair's more intimate setting.
“The campus is small, but everything there is really nice, the dorms, the food, the gym,” she says.
Ashley is still considering whether to study to be a psychologist or a veterinarian. Whatever she decides, and whichever college she attends, Ashley is sure to spend a lot of time in the campus gym. She's currently a star on both the varsity volleyball and basketball teams, the latter which features her at point guard.
Ashley also works five days a week as a sales consultant for a local beauty supply store. She has worked there since her freshman year. She says that she enjoys working, including greeting customers and learning how to be responsible in a professional environment, but that she knows finding time to focus on her academics comes first.
She does also enjoy socializing with her friends every now and then.
“I get the good days off,” she says.
