As a member of the Interact, Cheyanne helped organize fundraisers for local charities.
“We sold a lot of food,” she says.
Cheyanne has recently graduated from Hoboken Charter School, where she was vice-president of the student council. Her favorite subjects during her time at Hoboken Charter have been English and history. She likes reading plays, and she enjoyed learning about World War II and the rest of the 20th century in her American history class during her senior year.
Cheyanne has been enjoying her summer by spending time writing stories, rollerskating, fencing and babysitting her cousins. She's also planning a trip to Puerto Rico, where her family is from, and where she hasn't been since she was six-years-old.
“I'm looking forward to seeing all the things again that I saw last time,” she says. “And I want to relax by the pool."
This fall Cheyanne will begin attending St. Peter's College in nearby Jersey City, which is her mother's alma mater. Cheyanne likes that she can stay close to home while pursuing her studies, and that St. Peter's doesn't have an overwhelmingly large student body.
“I want to get involved in activities and meet new people,” she says.
She's still thinking about declaring a major among a number of subjects, including journalism and law. She thinks it will be a tough chouce.
“I'm always interested in something new every week,” she says.
