Whiz Kid: Numbers Cruncher Gina Tosado

Whiz Kids is a weekly feature in which Patch profiles an outstanding youngster or youth group. This week's Whiz Kid is Gina Tosado, who is awesome because she's counting on having a successful future.

Whiz Kid: Gina Tosado

Age: 17

School: Hoboken High School, 12th Grade

Gina Tosado, a senior at Hoboken High, is waiting for the next big stage in her life. She is planning on attending college next year. She's already been accepted to St. Elizabeth and NJCU, and is waiting to hear from Seton Hall and other schools.

“I want to go to a small college where I can focus on things like sports, clubs and making new friends,” she says.

Gina says she was originally interested in studying fashion, but now wants to study accounting.

“I started getting a big interest in math, and my dad said accounting would be good for that,” she says.

Gina's favorite subject is math, but she's a good student overall. She is a member of the student council. She is also in several clubs, including the chemistry, Italian and Hispanic culture clubs.

She likes doing new experiments with the chemistry club. “We go around, and whoever wants to do something, we try it,” she says.

Gina also works on the yearbook staff. She covers events such as dances and plays. “We're putting the yearbook together little by little,” she says.

In her free time Gina likes to slip into her pajamas, curl up on the couch and watch movies, especially horror flicks.

“I like to see if one of them can scare me,” she says.
