Whiz Kid: Photographer Christine Golinski

Whiz Kids is a weekly feature in which Patch profiles an outstanding youngster or youth group. This week's Whiz Kid is Christine Golinski, who is awesome because she's taking pictures to preserve fleeting moments in time.

School: Hoboken High School, 12th Grade

Eighteen year-old Hoboken High School student Christine does admit she is battling an acute case of senior-itis.

“Yeah, it's definitely struck,” she says. “But I'm getting back in the habit of being a scholarly student.”

Christine has earned the right to relax a bit, having worked hard during her time at Hoboken High. She's a good student, especially in any class that involves creativity and art. She does well in English class because she likes to write.

She participates in a lot of extracurricular groups, including the yearbook, photography, Hispanic culture clubs, plus she's a member of the school chorus and the student council. Out of all those clubs she likes photography the most.

“My main passion is photography,” she says. “I'm interested in capturing moments in time and setting them still to have forever.”

She plans on launching a career as a photographer, with a specialty in taking portrait. She likes how the camera can bring out the best in people.

“It almost enhances the beauty that they have for a split moment,” she says.

That's the sort of accomplishment Christine uses for encouragement. "Taking a great photo gets me to say that I want to do that more," she says.

In her spare time Christine likes spending time with family and friends and enjoys meeting and getting to know new people.

Christine definitely plans on going to college after she graduates, though she doesn't know where yet. She is moving with her family to Florida in the summer, and after she settles in down there she's going to start looking at schools.
