Woman With Knife Arrested At Hoboken Fast Food Restaurant: Police

Hoboken police responded to a call about a woman with a butcher knife in a local restaurant, and wound up being assaulted by her, they said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Police in Hoboken found themselves on the receiving end of an assault when they responded to a report of a woman in a restaurant with a butcher knife, they said.

Police say that on Oct. 27, around 7:30 p.m., two officers responded to Starbucks on reports of a woman "threatening others with a butcher knife."

When they began heading to the store, they got a followup report saying she was inside McDonald's at 134 Washington St.

Police Officer Christopher Barral arrived at the McDonald’s and found 28-year-old Amanda Hernandez of Hoboken, police said. "During further investigation, a knife fell out of her pocket and was later retrieved by officers," police said.

Lt. Charles Kucz, Sgt. William Bullock, Sgt. Jason Falco, and Police Officer Ramon Estrella also arrived on the scene. All of the officers assisted in the arrest, police said, but Hernandez resisted. Police says she made threats toward the officers and hit one of them in the face.

Then, when placed in handcuffs, she spin in the face of one of the officers and threatened to stab and kill him, police said. She also kicked officers in the legs, they say.

Hernandez was taken to Hoboken Police Headquarters, where she was charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement officers, throwing bodily fluids, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon,
possession of a weapon with an unlawful possession, obstruction, and making terroristic threats.

She was then taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
