Teen Shot Next To Athletic Field In Hoboken Monday (Updated)
A 17-year-old boy was shot in Hoboken on Monday night and later released from the hospital.
HOBOKEN, NJ — A 17-year-old Hoboken resident was shot Monday night and later released from the hospital, the Hoboken police said Tuesday morning.
The shooting occurred near a youth athletic field where a flag football game was taking place. As a result, the games for Tuesday have been canceled.

Police said that at 9:19 p.m., they responded to the area of Fourth Street between Jackson and Harrison streets. Officer Jessica Pizanie located a 17-year-old male victim from Hoboken with a single gunshot wound.
Pizanie, along with officers Aaron Font and Marco Grossmann, rendered aid until the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance responded and took over. Theboy was transported to Jersey City Medical Center and later released.

During the investigation, multiple shell casings and a 9mm handgun was recovered, police said. No other victims have been identified or reported, they said.
There have been at least two other gun incidents in that area this year:
- A month ago, a 20-year-old man was shot near Fourth Street.
- After gunshots were reported in that area in January, a youth was found with a gun.
The investigation into Monday's shooting is ongoing with Detective John Quinones as lead detective, police said. Those with information can reach out to him at 201-420-2100 Ext 3182 or email him at mation may remain anonymous.
Police Chief Steven Aguiar has added police presence in the area, police said.
The head of a Hoboken-based nonprofit for local youths posted a memo on social media on Monday night saying, "I am writing to you late this evening to tell you that all kids who played flag football tonight with Community Lifestyle are safe. There was an incident tonight outside the football field that is current being investigated. We live in incredibly challenging times...We are committed to the safety of the kids and our program."
The memo said that Tuesday's flag football games would be canceled, but they should resume next week.
One resident on Twitter posted about witnessing a shooting in the area, and others responded.
"I heard it!" responded someone on Twitter. "I saw everyone running and everything. Only one person?"
