World Trade Center PATH Station Fills With Smoke

Authorities: Testing of station fans created a "dust condition."

PATH riders at the World Trade Center had an unsettling experience on Tuesday morning, when the station reportedly filled with smoke.

“World Trade Center @ PATHTrain station is filled with smoke right now,” wrote Dan Ivers, a reporter with NJ.com via Twitter.

“Seemed to be dissipating... there’s construction going on,” Ivers updated 10 minutes later.

Authorities at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey issued an alert about the situation at 11:02 a.m.:

“WTC station users: Testing of station fans under way, creating temporary dust condition.”
