HOBOKEN, NJ — Where can you get matzo with your matcha for Passover? The Hive, a mom-owned coffee shop in Hoboken that recently drew long lines with its weekend cinnamon buns, is now putting a twist on the normally dry Passover matzo.
The shop is offering four varieties of its chocolate-covered matzo, sold in bags for $10.
"We’re talking layers of chocolate and toppings that are impossible to resist, all made by our
head bakeshop boss," they noted.

This year, Passover starts Friday at sundown and continues through April 23.
"It’s sold in 1/2-pound bags for $10 each and made in house," said chef Kristin Karotkin on Wednesday. "We plan to sell it through this weekend and possibly next week if there is still a demand."

Passover, Abridged
Passover is one of the more important holidays among observant Jews. If you've seen "The Ten Commandments," you know some of the story: After the pharaoh of Egypt enslaved the Jews, Moses led them away and back to Israel.
The story said when the Jews were rushing to leave Egypt, with the pharaoh's army chasing them, they didn't have time for the bread they made to rise. Jews commemorate this by eating unleavened bread — or matzoh — for the week.
However, the chocolate-covered matzohs at The Hive aren't kosher (conforming to Jewish dietary laws as laid out in the Torah).
Unique Easter Treats
Meanwhile, another area cafe (or actually, group of local cafes) is serving up unique Easter treats.
Choco Pain, which has locations in Hoboken and Jersey City, recently debuted their line of Easter breads and sweets. Check the treats out here and see the photo below.
