The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ), the leading volunteer-driven voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, advocacy and research is spotlighting people who make a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia.

Today we say "thank you" to Paula Muller, Certified Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) and Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). Paula volunteers as an Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey (AAGNJ) bilingual Community Educator, Support Group Facilitator and Community Forum Moderator.

Paula, spends a great deal of time speaking to caregivers about outreach resources such as the Alzheimer's Association’s 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) and Greater New Jersey Chapter educational programs and support groups. She is the Founder of Sociavi, a company with the mission to provide the simplest way for aging adults to maintain communication and companionship even when they may have lost the ability to reach out by themselves due to dementia or normal aging - giving peace of mind to the ones who care for them.

Muller explains, “Through my company’s work with older adults, I realized how prevalent Alzheimer’s disease is, so I decided to focus my attention on assisting them, and their families, by volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association, providing community education programs, facilitating support groups and moderating community forums.”

She continues, “Having grown up in Chile, my roots are in the Hispanic/LatinX community. We are affected by the disease 1.5 times more than white Americans, and yet less likely to receive a diagnosis, so it is imperative that my efforts, alongside the Alzheimer’s Association, provide the Hispanic community with needed information, resources, and support in Spanish, through bilingual volunteers like me. By raising concern and awareness of Alzheimer’s and providing free support and educational programs, people living with Alzheimer's, and their care partners, can have a better quality of life.”
