Baby Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Tinton Falls Parkway Crash
The 1-year-old baby girl ejected in a car crash Sunday night on the Garden State Parkway was in a booster seat, not an infant car seat.

TINTON FALLS, NJ — A 1-year-old baby girl who was ejected in a car crash Sunday night on the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls was in a booster seat, and not a proper car seat, Sgt. Jeffrey Flynn of the New Jersey State Police told Patch.
The crash happened at 9:01 p.m. Sunday in the southbound local lanes of the Parkway in Tinton Falls. The baby was in a Toyota Sequoia. The SUV ran off the left side of the road and was found overturned by first responders on the left embankment of the roadway. It was a one-car accident that happened at mile post 107.9.
The baby girl was found outside the car, he said. She has serious injuries that are life-threatening. As of Monday morning, the baby girl remains in an area hospital.

"The little girl suffered multiple injuries," he said.
A booster seat is not appropriate for her age, he said. Booster seats are for older children; a 1-year-old should be in a rear-facing car seat, he said. Booster seats are only recommended for children ages 4 and up.

The car's driver and two other adults in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The driver's last name is the same as the baby girl's, but Flynn said he did not know for sure if she was with her parents. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time, and the investigation is ongoing, he said.
Flynn said he needed to check which hospital she was taken to and determine her condition. Patch will update this story with more information as we get it throughout the day.
