The Blue Line Should Remain

Despite the shrill cries of a few radical students, the blue line is a symbol of greatness

In July of 2016 five Dallas Police Officers were ambushed and killed by a black racist named Micah Xavier Johnson. The death of these Officers shocked the nation. In a show of support for all Police Officers and to honor the Officers slain in Dallas, Holmdel painted a blue line on the road at Crawford Corner. The line has stood as a symbol of the gratitude most Holmdel residents and residents from other towns feel for our Police. That is until recently when a group of mostly high school and college students proclaimed that the blue line was racist.

The blue line is not racist. Since All Lives Matter, it honors all Police Officers who have served and those who have given their lives protecting us. These young American hating radicals spew the poison of the leftists. They claim that there is systematic racism in America and they demand that the police be defunded. Perhaps it is not their fault. Afterall, this is what they are taught in our schools.

We recognize that racism exists. We must work diligently to continue the progress toward equality. Systematic racism is a battle cry of those who hate the US. It does not exist. The US Constitution and our history is full of progress toward equality. These radical students have been taught that US History is evil. They ignore the greatness of our Republic.

Some local politicians have expressed support for these students. They have expressed support for the BLM organization. While we recognize that racism exists and that all lives matter, we should take the leadership of the BLM organizations at their word. BLM is a Marxist organization with explicit goals of ending the nuclear family and capitalism. They are a hate group and politicians who support them should take notice.

Predictably these radicals will label those who oppose them as racist. While they are the loudest, they are not the majority. I am reminded of the oath that I swore as an Officer of Marines…to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. The blue line stands. In fact, it should be repainted so that future generations can be reminded of the greatness of this nation.
