HOLMDEL, NJ - The five-member Holmdel Township Committee is set to discuss a new memorial dedication program and the purchase of police body cameras at its next meeting on Jan. 26, according to municipal documents.

Here are some highlights on the agenda:

  • Mayor Greg Buontempo is slated to make a proclamation declaring January Radon Action Month. Radon is a carcinogen and second leading cause of lung cancer that can enter homes through openings near pumps, pipes and drains. You can grab a free testing kit this month at town hall.   • A resolution is on the table regarding the purchase for body cameras for the Holmdel Police Department in the amount of $153,999.30. According to the agenda, the purchasing agreement \will “result in cost savings.”
  • The reappointment of SLEO II Officers Leonard Sasso, Charles Hancock and Louis Torres, as well as the reappointment of SLEO I Officers Daisy Agostini and Jacqueline Ferreira is also on the table.
  • A resolution for the approval of a township Memorial Tree Dedication Program is on the agenda. The program would allow local groups, individuals and organizations to contribute materials and labor associated with memorial bench installation. The guidelines of a tree dedication state that a donation totals $1,000, including the cost of the tree, labor, materials, deer protection and brass plaque.
