Cafe Red's brings wild wings and South Philly cheesesteaks to Keyport
Café owner and long-time local resident Greg Kemp and family serving up tasty, affordable food to Keyport
KEYPORT, NJ—The borough of Keyport welcomed Café Red’s to the community with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. The Kemp family operation offers tasty breakfast and lunch items for very reasonable prices. The family is Keyport raised said owner Greg Kemp. “We all went to the same school and now we’re back here right across the street serving food.” The new café was welcomed by Mayor Harry Aumack, board members of the Keyport Bayfront Business Cooperative (KBBC) and Keyport Council members.
Café owner and long-time local resident Greg Kemp wanted to serve up something different to Keyport—offering items like South Philly-style cheesesteaks, chicken wings and board-walk sausages.
“We wanted to bring something that Keyport doesn’t have. The wings and the real South Philly cheesesteaks—you can’t get anywhere unless you travel an hour and a half away,” said Kemp.

Greg and the Kemp family serve breakfast, lunch, early dinners and even cater and deliver out of their store on 366 Broad Street, across the road from Keyport High School.
Home of the Red Raiders and Keyport Indians, Café Red’s is all about town spirit. With prime location in front of the high school, wide countertops and multiple flat-screen TV’s, the café is a great place to grab a bite and hang out. “We’re about affordable, family food that the kids can come eat,” Greg said.

The store’s name is more than a nod to the high school’s and town’s athletic teams—Greg’s grandfather’s nickname is Red. The café is a family affair, with over half the staff comprised of Kemp family members. “And if you’re not family, they treat you like one,” said Laura, an employee.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Café Red’s to the business community,” said Bobbi Henniger, Manager of the KBBC. “If you know the Kemp’s, you know they’re all about the Keyport community, and they’re showing their love through some great cooking.”
