The Cancer Support Community at Monmouth Medical Center Offers an Eight-Week Quit Smoking Program

Every year in the U.S., 480,000 people die from tobacco use or exposure to secondhand smoke

Every year in the U.S., 480,000 people die from tobacco use or exposure to secondhand smoke, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To help individuals become smoke-free and lead healthier lives, Monmouth Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, has teamed up with the American Lung Association to offer the Freedom From Smoking Group Quit Program.

The eight-week program offers a systematic approach to quitting smoking. Led by a certified facilitator, the program covers: lifestyle changes to make quitting easier, information on how to prepare for quit day, lessons on how to stay smoke-free for good, and coping strategies for managing stress and avoiding weight gain.

The Freedom From Smoking Group Quit Program will be held at the Cancer Support Community at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue, Suite ST-007 in Long Branch. The program is split into eight mandatory sessions: May 19 and 26, and June 2, 9, 12, 16, 23 and 30. All sessions take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit lung.org/ffs for more information about the program.
