Clearing Up Confusion: Laurel Ave. Bridge In Keansburg To Close

The small Laurel Avenue bridge over Waackaack Creek in Hazlet/West Keansburg will close for re-paving starting Monday.

HAZLET, NJ — There was some major confusion late Thursday when Hazlet police announced the Laurel Avenue bridge will be closed starting September 9 for six to eight months of repair.

We at Patch would like to clarify this is not this bridge: The problem-plagued Laurel Avenue bridge in Holmdel, which carries the North Jersey Coast Line tracks over Laurel Ave. and has been hit by trucks at least four times in the past two years.

This is a much smaller bridge in Hazlet/West Keansburg, which will be closed for a repaving project in Keansburg at Laurel and Creek roads. The project is being done by Monmouth County. This is the small Laurel Avenue bridge over Waackaack Creek.

However, it will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9 and the closure will last approximately 6-8 months. If you live in that area, please find an alternate route.
