Cops: Drug-Fueled 100-Mile Parkway Ride, Chase Ends With Crash, Injuries, Bust
A dispute in Cape May County turned into a chase, a crash and a drug bust nearly 100 miles to the north on Garden State Parkway, cops say.

A verbal dispute in Cape May County turned into a chase, a crash and a drug bust nearly 100 miles to the north in the Holmdel area on the Garden State Parkway, according to the State Police.
State troopers from Holmdel Station arrested Samuel Bompane, 22, of Brooklyn for a variety of charges on Tuesday following a crash on the Parkway northbound lanes at mile marker 115.
Bompane was first noticed in connection with a report of a verbal dispute on the side of the road in Cape May County. He drove his car away from that location and was spotted by troopers sometime later, driving at a high speed in the area of mile marker 83 in the Brick and Toms River area, police said.

Troopers attempted to stop the Nissan Altima and pursued it for a few minutes until they neared a construction zone in Brick Township. About 25 miles farther north, the car was involved in a crash with another vehicle, police said.
The initial investigation indicates that Bompane was driving on the shoulder, attempting to pass vehicles, when he struck a car, causing it to overturn. The driver of that other vehicle, a 42-year-old woman from Bloomfield, received a broken arm and was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center, police said.

Trooper Andrew Capodice arrived on scene, recognized the Altima from earlier radio descriptions, and arrested Bompane, police said. At the Holmdel Station, Bompane complained of leg pain from the crash and was taken to Bayshore Medical Center for treatment.
A search of Bompane’s vehicle uncovered more than 10 pounds of marijuana, 80 pounds of marijuana candy, hashish oil, prescription drugs, and a variety of drug paraphernalia including scales, currency counters, plastic bags and smoking pipes, police said.
The drugs were valued at more than $100,000. Additionally, Bompane allegedly had approximately $35,000 in currency in the Florida registered car, police said.
Evidence indicated that Bompane was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash, police said.
He was charged with: driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle summonses; aggravated assault with a vehicle; possession with intent to distribute marijuana, cocaine, psilocybin, hashishDrug paraphernalia; and possession of ecstasy.
Bompane was released from the hospital and lodged in Monmouth County Jail on $725,000 cash bail. There is also a bail source hearing condition on that bail amount.
