A Legend in his Own Mind: A story of basketball and addiction

A story for all ages and all interests...Local resident John McDermott has penned his story as one of the Shore's celebrated high school athletes and his descent into -- and recovery from -- alcoholism in his book A Legend in his Own Mind.  A graduate of Raritan High School, where he was recognized for his personal athletic accomplishments, particularly in basketball, John's addiction to basketball morphed into an addiction to alcohol by the time he entered college.  A Legend in his Own Mind recounts the allure alcohol held for him and his recovery.During this program, John will discuss the writing of this, his first book, as well as his efforts to recover from alcoholism.  Copies of his book will be available for purchase.
