Brookdale’s 2026 Scholarship Bash
The Brookdale Community College Foundation invites the community to A Night with the Stars: Where Futures Shine on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Branches in West Long Branch. The evening will bring together friends and champions of Brookdale to celebrate generosity and invest in the success of students across our community.
Brookdale is the #1 community college in New Jersey and ranks in the top 10% of community colleges nationally. Its Cyber Defense and Nursing programs are designated Centers of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National League for Nursing. With 130 nurses graduating annually, many of us, or our loved ones, will benefit from their care at some point. Yet more than 50% of Brookdale students rely on financial aid.
“We hope the community will join us for a wonderful evening that celebrates Brookdale students and helps ensure their futures continue to shine,” said 2026 Scholarship Bash Co-Chairs Carol Stillwell, Candy Langan-Sattenspiel, and Tracey Abby-White.
Guests will enjoy an elegant evening featuring dinner, dancing, an open bar, and both live and silent auctions, all in celebration of the bright futures made possible through scholarship support. Proceeds from the evening directly fund scholarships that remove financial barriers and help more Brookdale students pursue and complete their academic goals.

Holmdel Earth Day Festival and Greenway Walk will be held Sunday, April 26 from 12 to 5pm. Celebrate Earth Day at bucolic Bayonet Farm. This family friendly festival will have exhibits for all ages by local environmental and wildlife organizations, live music, shows and more!
The Monmouth County Parks Nature on the Move Van, Monmouth County Master Gardeners, Holmdel Green Team and Eyes of the Wild Mammal Show are just some of the featured exhibits and shows. Enjoy live music by local musicians in the Red Barn featuring Late4Lunch! As always, homemade sandwiches, hot dogs and fresh baked goods will be for sale at the Red Barn Deli.
Admission, shows, tours and parking are free!
Arrive early to explore the trails at Bayonet Farm! We’ll walk a 2 mile loop beginning at the Harding House at 11 am and returning just as the festivities begin.

Speaker: Samuel Ratcliff, Cape Shore Operations Manager, Rutgers University, Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory
Mr. Ratcliff will talk about the production and evaluation of Rutgers’ disease-resistant oyster lines, the production of tetraploid lines and other experimental crosses in support of genomic research and genomic selection, and the coastal environment benefits of aquaculture.
The Rutgers Cape Shore Laboratory is a New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station and a field station located on the shore of Delaware Bay in Cape May, NJ. Laboratory facilities at the site include two hatcheries with 3000 sq. ft. of quarantine hatchery. The lab provides summer paid internships for students.

Samuel Ratcliff is the Operations Manager &amp; Researcher at Rutgers University Cape Shore Laboratory in Cape May, NJ. He has worked with a wide range of species, from finfish and ornamental crustaceans to bivalves, which shaped his passion for sustainable aquaculture and coastal ecology, deepening his appreciation for the complexity of marine systems and the importance of hands-on research. He manages the Rutgers Cape Shore Laboratory, where he combines his scientific background with fieldwork, mentoring, and coordinating projects that support both research and the commercial sector of shellfish aquaculture in New Jersey.
