VIDEO: FedEx Truck Hits Bridge In Holmdel

HOLMDEL, NJ — It happened yet again. A news helicopter from CBS2 New York captured this incredible footage from a FedEx truck that just collided with the Laurel Avenue bridge Monday afternoon in Holmdel Township (see video below).

The impact was so great it shaved the roof off the truck and — incredibly — split the truck in two. The bridge clearance is 12 feet, five inches.

There are no injuries reported. That bridge carries the North Jersey Coast line of NJ Transit railroad tracks over Laurel Avenue. It has not impacted NJ Transit service.

The Laurel Avenue bridge is a notoriously low-hanging bridge and multiple trucks have hit the bridge, such as this incident in 2016: Truck Gets Wedged Under Laurel Avenue Bridge

Here are photos from a truck hitting that same Laurel Avenue bridge in March of 2016: In that instance, the tractor trailer, which was traveling east on Laurel Ave., struck the bridge at about 7:40 p.m. March 2, 2016 and actually got stuck underneath it. The crash caused the entire roof to peel off the trailer, and both the front and sides of the trailer detached.

In the 2016 incident, the truck driver, Radisha Jones, 31, of Orange, was issued multiple summonses and was later placed under arrest after she was found to have an outstanding criminal warrant out of Newark.
