HOLMDEL, NJ — Hundreds of Monmouth County first responders — police officers, firefighters and EMTs — gathered outside Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel Tuesday night to give a "clap out" for doctors and nurses.
The first responders formed a line on either side of the hospital's main entrance and cheered for doctors and nurses as they walked in for the overnight shift at the hospital Tuesday night.
Many of the healthcare workers seemed shocked, but others called out "thank you!" as they walked into work. Some appeared moved to tears by the gesture of support. See the videos:

Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso was also there, in her First Aid uniform. She is the area's local representative to Trenton and also a member of the all-volunteer Holmdel First Aid Squad.
"It’s pretty unbelievable to see so many police, fire and EMTs standing with our nurses, doctors and medical staff in such a solid show of support," said Frank Citara, chief operating officer of Bayshore. "Bayshore is part of such a great community and we are fortunate to have this show of solidarity."
It is not exactly clear which agency organized the clap out.
