Garbage Truck Fire Shuts Down 35 South in Holmdel Friday
35 is shut down from Centerville Road to Laurel Avenue; closure is expected to last four hours or more. Avoid the area!

Holmdel, NJ - Rt. 35 South in Holmdel from Centerville Road/Union Avenue to Laurel Avenue is closed as of just before 4 p.m. Friday due to a garbage truck that caught fire.
The Rt. 35 closure is expected to last four hours or more. Avoid the area if possible!, police say. Rt. 35 North is open, but police are still recommending drivers avoid the area.
All traffic is being diverted to Union Avenue and Middle Road. Expect heavy traffic on Centerville Road/Union Avenue and Middle Road, Hazlet police said, as there are heavy traffic delays on both these roads. Avoid these roads if possible.
