Hazlet Clown Sightings Not Confirmed: Police

Hazlet police received three calls Monday: One caller said they heard "clown noises" and two reported seeing clowns.

HAZLET, NJ -- Hazlet residents have nothing to fear when it comes to recent clown sightings despite what they're seeing on social media, police say.

Hazlet police received three calls on Monday, Sept. 4, complaining about clowns: One said caller said they heard "clown noises" and two reported seeing clowns. Only one left their name. All three calls were unfounded, police said.

There has been no credible threats, police say, so Hazlet residents have no reason to worry about clowns. Any emergencies can be reported to (732)-264-6565, or 911.

These rumors come amongst nationwide increases in clown sightings, with New Jersey being no exception. While most reports have been nothing but rumors, one South Jersey teenager was charged with cyber harassment for making clown-related threats.
