Hazlet Gas Station Robbed
The Hazlet Plaza Gulf station on Highway 35 was broken into sometime on Sunday, April 23; cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets were stolen.

HAZLET, NJ ― The Gulf gas station in Hazlet was robbed last month, and police apprehended an Edison Township man who they said did it.
The Hazlet Plaza Gulf station on Highway 35 was broken into sometime on Sunday, April 23, police said. About $1,200 in cash was taken from the register, as well as three cartons of Marlboro cigarettes and 23 lottery scratch-off tickets. The suspect fled the scene.
However, Albert Smith, 48, of Edison was stopped in Hazlet on Tuesday of this week after police said they found four wax folds of suspected heroin on him. He was charged with both the drug possession and linked to the gas station break-in. He was charged with theft in that incident as well, police said.
