Hazlet Man Killed By Train Went Around Crossing Gate
The 90-year-old Hazlet man who was killed by a North Jersey Coast Line train Saturday drove around the crossing gate, initial reports show.

HAZLET, NJ — The 90-year-old Hazlet man who was killed by a North Jersey Coast Line train Saturday drove around the crossing gate, initial reports from the scene show.
Hazlet resident Albert Fuchs was pronounced deceased at the scene after the accident happened around noon Saturday at the Bethany Road railroad crossing, an NJ Transit official said. Fuchs' car was hit at 12:30 p.m. by a North Jersey Coast train from Long Branch headed to New York Penn Station.
None of the 150 passengers or crew aboard were injured. As a result of the accident, service on the North Jersey Coast Line between Hazlet and Long Branch was suspended for hours on Saturday afternoon, however. The passengers reportedly could not get off the train until 3:30 p.m.
