Hazlet Resident Arrested in Hudson County Drug Raid

A Hazlet man was one of five people arrested last week as part of a multi-day raid of an alleged prescription drug ring​.

Hazlet, NJ - A Hazlet man was one of five people arrested last Monday and Tuesday as part of a multi-day raid of an alleged prescription drug ring that sold Xanax and oxycodone in Hudson County and Hackensack.

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, officers with the Hudson County prosecutor's office arrested Eric Berg, 36, of Hazlet, at a his home in Hazlet. A search of his home resulted in the seizure of more than 200 doses of Xanax, about eight ounces of marijuana and $1,000 in cash. Officers also seized Berg’s vehicle.

The day before that, the Hudson County prosecutor's office arrested three men and one woman in Hudson County who they said sold prescription drugs Xanax and oxycodone. Police said the Hazlet man had a conspiratorial role in the undercover operation.

The takedown came after a two-month investigation during which undercover officers bought prescription drugs in Kearny, Newark and Hackensack. The arrests resulted in the seizure of two vehicles, more than 200 Xanax doses, 10 oxycodone doses and currency, prosecutors said. Prosecutors credited the Kearny Police Department, the Hazlet Police Department, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office for assisting in the arrests.
