Hazlet Seniors Eligible For COVID-19 Vaccine ‘Priority’ List

HAZLET, NJ - Hazlet seniors are now eligible to register for the township’s priority COVID-19 vaccination list starting this week, according to a municipal announcement.

Beginning March 8, residents 65 years and older can sign up to join the list.

"Over the past few weeks many seniors have reached out to the Hazlet Township Committee asking for assistance in scheduling a COVID-19 vaccination," Hazlet Mayor Tara Clark said in a statement. "We are very pleased have the opportunity to partner with legislative officials and local healthcare systems to assist our senior citizens. Our online form enables residents who are at least 65 years to age to easily register. It is our hope that our seniors will get vaccines at a nearby health facility very soon."

The program comes as part of a legislative districtwide effort to vaccinate Monmouth County's most vulnerable populations, according to a spokesperson for Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso, who represents New Jersey's 13th Legislative District. "Not all, but almost all of the towns in our district are set up on the program for seniors," the spokesperson said. "We're getting there."

A second initiative is aimed at vaccinating eligible teachers, with 1,048 staff in 43 local school districts vaccinated as of March 6.

Vaccination locations in partnership with the regional initiative include Bayshore Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center and the Holmdel Bell Works VNA site.

The announcement is an expansion of eligibility from an alert originally issued on March 5 for residents ages 75 and older. Residents can sign up at this link.

Eligible residents will be contacted in the coming days.

New Jersey's 13th Legislative District includes Aberdeen Township, Atlantic Highlands Borough, Fair Haven Borough, Hazlet Township, Highlands Borough, Holmdel Township, Keansburg Borough, Keyport Borough, Little Silver Borough, Marlboro Township, Middletown Township, Monmouth Beach Borough, Oceanport Borough, Rumson Borough, Sea Bright Borough and Union Beach.
