HOLMDEL, NJ — This past Tuesday, April 2 was the deadline to submit petitions to run for Holmdel Township Committee; the primary will be in June and the general election will be in November.

The seats currently held by Eric Hinds (currently serving as Holmdel's mayor) and Mike Nikolis (deputy mayor) are up for election this year. Both Hinds and Nikolis submitted their names to run for re-election, according to the Holmdel Twp. clerk's office.

Chiung-Yin Cheng Liu, Nicholas Teetelli and Kimberley Lamountain are Holmdel residents who also put their names in to run against Nikolis and Hinds. All five candidates — Hinds, Nikolis, Liu, Teetelli and Lamountain — are Republican, so this year's Holmdel Republican primary will be the one to watch when it happens on June 4.

Additionally, Committeemen Greg Buontempo and Rocco Pascucci’s seats are up for election next year, followed by Committeeman Tom Critelli's seat in 2021. Pascucci told Patch earlier this year he has no interest in seeking another term on the Holmdel Township Committee.

The primary election is June 4 this year; the general election will be Tuesday, Nov. 5.
