Holmdel Middle School Girls Soccer Finished Season Undefeated

Congratulations to the Satz Middle School girls soccer team!

HOLMDEL, NJ— The Satz Middle School Girls Soccer team just wrapped up their season with an incredible record: 11-0.

Coached by Katherine Cornacchia, the team scored 58 goals during the season, and allowed just eight goals in.

Athletic Director Shane Fallon called the girls season a "great team effort," and noted that the girls had a "ton of fun" playing.

Twelve players returned from last year, and their experience contributed greatly to the team's success. Returning players Sofia M. (10 goals), Lindsay G. and Julianna B. (7 goals each), helped the Hawks with their scoring record.

The season was not without their challenges. The Hawks played Middletown's Thorne Middle School, who were also undefeated at that point. The Hawks lead into halftime, but lost the lead in the second half, forcing an overtime. Lindsay G. scored the game winning goal with four minutes left in overtime, maintaining the winning season.

Even though a number of girls are moving on to high school next year, Cornacchia is looking forward to another great season.

“Even though we are losing a number of eighth graders, if we work as hard as we did this year we will have another successful season,” she said.
