Holmdel Motorcycle Driver Charged With DWI, Assault By Auto

Aberdeen police arrested a Holmdel man who they say was intoxicated when he crashed his motorcycle, injuring his passenger.

Aberdeen police arrested a Holmdel man who they say was intoxicated when he crashed his motorcycle, injuring his passenger.

Edward Hines III, 22, of Maurice Avenue, Holmdel, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and assault by auto.

According to a news release from Aberdeen Police Chief John T. Powers:

Shortly after midnight on Aug. 5, Hines was driving a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle south on Route 35 when he lost control near County Road.

Hines suffered leg and arm injuries, but refused medical attention.

His 18-year-old passenger sustained significant injuries to her arm and leg. The young woman, whose name was not released, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick by Bayshore EMS and MONOC medics.

Hines was released, pending a court appearance.

Officer John Zeller filed the charges. He was assisted by Officer Raymond Campbell.
