HOLMDEL … public safety & well being verses a turf field ?

A BOND Ordinance requires a super majority of 4 out of 5 votes for passage.

June 22, 2021 Holmdel Ordinance 2021-19 providing an appropriation of
$2,811,000 for capital improvements was introduced authorizing the
issuance of $2,670,450 in bonds or notes for financing part of the
appropriation.

Introduction of BOND Ordinance 2021-19 was passed with 4 yes votes and 1 no vote.

Mayor Buontempo, Deputy Mayor Weber, Committeemen Santhana, and Lucarelli
voted approval on Ord. 2021-19 for a July 13, 2021 PUBLIC hearing
on said ordinance.

July 13, 2021 a PUBLIC Hearing was held for BOND Ordinance 2021-19.

Committeeman Lucarelli changed his original vote for approval at introduction and
joined with Committeeman Critelli and voted NO.

The super majority criteria was not met. BOND Ordinance 2021-19 failed to pass being
defeated.

BOND Ord. 2021-19 provided essential Township funding needed for…

  • Road improvements and maintenance including including curbing, milling, paving, drainage and site preparations, Bethany Road intersection improvements, Indian Hill School crosswalk installation, Newman Springs Road and Cross Road cross walk installation,
  • Public facilities maintenance and improvements
  • Public Safety including Emergency Services and Police Dept renovations
  • Public Safety Equipment
  • Recreational maintenance / improvements for Bayonet Farm, Swim Club, Alloccoa and Ackerson Parks
  • Information Technology Equipment

Committeemen Critelli and Lucarelli 's no votes as declared on July 13 were based
on no provided funding for a new multi-functional turf sports field.

Long awaited essential every day Township needed safety and well being
were once again held hostage by two Committeemen for the sake of
non-essential spending on turf fields.

I am sure Committeemen Critelli and Lucarelli did not intend to place
the Township residents and taxpayers at risk holding all essential
needs hostage over a turf field.

I implore Committeemen Critelli and Lucarelli to reconsider their
position, to show good faith and to re-introduce BOND Ordinance
2021-19 for another vote.

Perhaps their much desired turf field adding an estimated $2,000,000 to the
budget would do well as a separate November ballot item.
