Holmdel Schools Implement Half Days To Prepare For Virtual Class
Holmdel public schools will implement half days on Friday, March 13 and Monday, March 16 to prepare teachers for extended remote learning.

HOLMDEL, NJ — Like so many school districts across the state, Holmdel public schools will implement half days on Friday, March 13 and Monday, March 16.
This is so the district can prepare teachers and staff to offer remote, online learning for an extended period of time, as the U.S. tries to prevent coronavirus from spreading.
The news was announced Wednesday by Holmdel schools superintendent Dr. Robert McGarry.

"Our focus now is on finalizing our plans for remote learning," McGarry said. "In order to provide professional development and planning time for teachers, we will have early dismissals (4 Hour Session Days) on Friday, March 13 and Monday, March 16."
As of Thursday morning, there are four confirmed cases of coronavirus in Monmouth County:

- An 83-year-old Hazlet woman being treated at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel. She is in stable condition.
- A 27-year-old Little Silver man who was treated at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, but has since been discharged and is in isolation at home. He is said to be recovering.
- A 17-year-old teenager at Red Bank Regional High School. Her older sibling also tested “presumed positive” for COVID-19. This prompted the shut-down of Red Bank Regional.
