HOLMDEL, NJ — Holmdel High School senior Elizabeth Caplan and junior Nicholas Bauman recently joined other musically talented high school students from the eastern region of the United States for the 2019 National Association for Music Education (NAfME) All Eastern Honors Ensemble festival held this past weekend in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
All- Eastern Honors ensembles are comprised of students from Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Europe.
Bauman sang with the mixed chorus, an ensemble of over 300, which was conducted by Dr.
Rollo Dilworth of Temple University. Bauman was one of just over 50 students representing NJ
in this ensemble. Caplan, who intends to continue her musical studies next year at the collegiate

“Students chosen for these ensembles perform remarkably challenging music," said Holmdel superintendent Dr. Robert McGarry, a former music teacher himself. “Being one of a small number of students selected from the eastern United States (and an even smaller number from New Jersey) for this honor is truly a great accomplishment and the result of many years of hard work and exemplary participation in New Jersey’s All-State ensembles."
Both students can be heard performing with Holmdel’s Choral Ensembles on May 21st.
