JSCS Annual Singles and Doubles Ping Pong Tournament

Under the guidance of Ping Pong teacher, Mr. Kenny Zhou, 11 students participated in the singles and doubles ping pong tournament this year. The players who participated in the competition started the round robin tournaments several weeks ago. Each player who won a game score one point and the total points determined the seeding in the final championship.

The competition started at 11:30 am with a single elimination system. The players swing their paddles and move around the table quickly. Spectators watched and cheered loudly as the tiny white ball move across the net producing rhythmic beats. When only four top players left, the competition turned into the best 2 out of 3 games to determine the winner. The final game was played between Eric Gulko and Victor Lee. It was such a fierce competition, and after a hard fought battle, Eric Gulko won the 2018 singles champion!

In doubles championship, last year’s champions, brothers Ethan and Evan Liou, were again challenged by Brian Young and Victor Lee. Not satisfied with their second place finish last year, Young & Lee made some brilliant moves and their strategy paid off. Brian Young & Victor Lee won the 2018 doubles champions!

After the game, singles champion Eric Gulko said that he enjoys playing ping pong at JCSC. He expressed his gratitude for Mr. Zhou’s guidance and thanked his teammates who play against him every week, helping him increase his skills. He is happy to win the singles championship this year and will continue to work hard to defend his title next year!

Jersey Shore Chinese School ping pong club meets every Saturday from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at W. R. Satz Middle School in Holmdel. Students who are interested to join the ping pong club are welcome to register. JSCS has started the registration for 2018-2019 school year. For more information, please contact principal@jscsnj.org
