Mandee Store Closing In Hazlet Plaza
Aldi and now the Mandee clothing store will be leaving Hazlet Plaza. There is also a Toys R Us located there.

HAZLET, NJ — Yet more changes on the Rt. 35 business corridor in Hazlet: The Mandee clothing store that has been in Hazlet Plaza for decades announced they will close on April 27, the Asbury Park Press reported.
Hazlet Plaza has seen several anchor tenants leave: In January, it was revealed that Aldi is planning on leaving Hazlet Plaza, and will move across Rt. 35 into a much larger space inside the long-closed Pathmark. This comes on top of the bankruptcy news from Toys R Us; there is a Toys R Us in Hazlet Plaza, as well.
Mandee is currently holding a liquidation sale. The Mandee has been open in Hazlet Plaza for many years, but the company chose not to renew its lease this year, James Tobin, broker of record and owner of Tobin Commercial Realty in Manalapan, told the APP. He has long been the commercial broker of Hazlet Plaza.

"We have a great new tenant that is going into the space," he said, but did not name the new tenant.
Aldi's decision to cross Rt. 35 is likely strategic, as rival European discount supermarket chain Lidl plans to open at the site of the old Red Oak diner. Related: Aldi Plans To Move Into Old Pathmark In Hazlet

"I think Aldi wants to be on the southbound side of Rt. 35 before the light at Poole, as Lidl will be located on the northbound side of 35 after the light," said Hazlet Township Committeewoman Sue Kiley.
"We are actively seeking new tenants for the Aldi space (in Hazlet Plaza)," Tobin told the APP.
