Matawan Man Threatened People With Machete In Holmdel, Police Say
A Matawan man was found with a machete Friday night and arrested after police said he threatened to fight a group of people in Holmdel.

HOLMDEL, NJ — A Matawan man was found with a machete Friday night and arrested after police said he threatened to fight a group of people in Holmdel. The incident took place at 15 Miller Avenue in Holmdel Township; police were called there at 6:18 p.m. Friday.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl, told police she had been previously arguing with Dremere Anthony, 21, of Matawan. According to the victim, Anthony and numerous other subjects all showed up near her residence to fight her.
During this encounter, Anthony produced a large machete and began waving it around and threatened her and another 26-year-old man, who was trying to calm the situation down, police said.

Anthony and approximately eight other subjects fled the scene before police got there. Holmdel police notified Matawan police, who pulled over two suspect vehicles on Union Street in Matawan. Police said they found the machete in the car Anthony was in.
He was transported to Holmdel PD, where he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and terroristic threats. Anthony was later lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institute.
